What’s Happening

Welcome to the next edition of the HLC E-Bulletin. In this issue we focus on Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 and this year’s theme of ‘nature and the environment,'(#Connectwithnature), sharing with you some of our photos from the HLC team!

E-safety has risen in importance during the COVID-19 pandemic, as our learners and partners have switched to on-line support and delivery. From a safeguarding perspective this creates three areas of risk – Content: exposure to illegal, inappropriate or harmful material. Contact: being subject to harmful on-line interaction with other users. Conduct: personal on-line behaviour that increases the likelihood of, or causes harm.

Since the Youth Hub Hull’s virtual launch the hub team and core partners have been busy implementing a marketing plan to promote the new, one-stop-shop to help 16-29 year olds back into work following the COVID-19 outbreak.

From 8th March, post 16 provision has been able to return to face to face delivery, in spite of the fact that the staff and learner testing arrangements for the Independent Learning Sector will not be in place till April. Given that testing is seen as key to the effective and safe return of learners to schools and colleges, this is clearly not the best piece of Government planning you’ll ever see!

Further to the Government announcement on 22nd February, the post 16 education guidance has been updated to confirm that education providers can open face to face from 8th March, particularly for age 16 to 19 students.

HLC are now currently accepting electronic applications for Community Grants Round 4! A full assessment and formal negotiations on contract start dates and approval of award will be discussed upon our return to the office.

As you will probably know by now, the Government have moved the potential re-opening of post-16 face-to-face delivery from just after February half term, to the 8th March.

HLC would like to thank everyone that applied to Community Grants 5 round 4. We received many interesting applications, and we are looking forward to working with the 19 successful grant recipients across the Humber and East Riding.
