What is the General Data Protection Regulation?

GDPR is part of the revised Data Protection framework from 25th May 2018 called the Data Protection Act. It is intended to protect your personal data if you live in Europe.

Personal data not only includes your name, address, date of birth but can include an information that you can be identified from, including your location data and IP addresses.

An organisation must have a legal basis to access and process your data and you must be notified.

You have the right at any point to remove permission for an organisation to use your data. You also have the right to ask an organisation to delete your data.

HLC ensures that your data is processed inline with Data Protection Law and as detailed within the privacy notices you will have seen.

What does HLC do with your data?

HLC processes data in line with its privacy notices available below.

HLC has a legal obligation with their funding agencies such as the European Social Fund (ESF), European Structural and Investment Fund (ESIF), Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), Big Lottery, Hull City Council and the Department for Work & Pensions.

How long do we hold your information for?

We will only keep your information for as long as necessary for the relevant, service, activity or enquiry and or to fulfil our obligations.

Your rights

Access – you can request access to the information we hold about you.

Correction – you can ask us to correct or complete data we hold about you.

Remove – you can ask us to remove data we hold about you that we do not need for legal reasons.

Portability – you can request a copy of all the data we hold on you in a form that can be transferred to other organisations.

In addition, you have the right to:

Restrict Processing – you can stop us from processing your data in certain circumstances.

Object – you can object to us using your data for certain forms of processing e.g. marketing.
