Doing Business with the VCS
Funded by Capacity Builders
As a result of changes in legislation many local authorities and public sector bodies will end the practice of giving grants to VCS organisations in the very near future. Instead organisations will be expected to compete with the private sector through a tendering process.
Our project recognises that for many organisations this represents a real challenge and that they may need some help in preparing for this brave new world!
Our experienced project workers will work with your organisation to:
- Understand the changes taking place
- Help to get your organisation “procurement ready” so that you can respond when things change
- Train staff, trustees and volunteers to meet their new responsibilities
- Help put the new systems and procedures that you will need in place
All of our help is free of charge and is available to any voluntary and community organisations and social enterprises based in the Humber area.
If you would like us to help your organisation please contact:

Money Matters Plus Project
CERT has just launched the Money Matters Plus project. There are two aims to the project; Financial Assistance and Corporate Engagement.
Financial Assistance: To raise the level of financial awareness and the standard of record keeping and accounts preparation in the third sector.
The Financial Assistance Service can help third sector organisations in a number of ways:
- Providing advice and information on the type of systems required to manage your finances.
- Providing training to fill any gaps in knowledge.
- Linking you with other organisations that can provide practical help and advice.
This service is free, and no hardware, software, or services are sold through the Money Matters Plus project.

Corporate Engagement
To engage with and encourage corporate sector organisations to provide financial accounting expertise to the third sector, bringing tangible benefits to both sectors.
The Corporate Engagement Programme will actively identify businesses that are willing to support Voluntary and Community Organisations through the provision of finance and accounting expertise. Not only is this a way of helping Voluntary and Community organisations, but it is also a way of facilitating corporate social responsibility, improving business connections to the local community, and enhancing staff and organisational performance.
