Silver Surfers Day 2010
Make sure you save the date for Silver Surfers Day 2010
On 21st May 2010 event all over the country will be helping older people to get the most out of technology.
SSD used to be all about showing older people the Internet, having a go on the world wide web and email, but as times change and technology becomes more prolific and diverse, we've been stretching the definition of 'digital' to accommodate.
On SSD 2010, we'll also be helping local Event Holders to cover issues like digital TV and switchover, mobile phones, iphones, cameras; there'll be resources on Twitter, blogging, Flickr, Facebook et al. As well as the 'standard, basics' of digital media use and application.
For SSD2010, our special focus will be on encouraging and supporting intergenerational SSD partnerships. We are particularly keen to grow our 'Schools for Silver Surfers' initiative, which resulted in 66 partnerships between local schools and sheltered housing schemes in 2009.
