Community Development Foundation

CDF has a wealth of experience of working with VCS organisations, and the private and public sectors to gather evidence of the impact of their work in local communities. Our strength lies in our understanding of communities and community groups and their growing importance to policymakers. CDF also publishes a range of titles around the themes of community development and community involvement.

Compact Voice

Compact Voice are the voice of the voluntary sector on the Compact  - an agreement between the sector and the Government to ensure better working together. They have a wide range of publications available for download.


NCVO produces publications to support people working in voluntary and community organisations. NCVO members get 30% publication prices.


Demos is a think-tank focused on power and politics. They publish a wide variety of pamphlets, reports, collections and papers. Everything can be downloaded for free and freely distributed under Demos' Creative Commons license.

Involve Yorkshire & Humber

Involve Yorkshire & Humber publishes a series of information guides for the voluntary and community sector, and for public and private sector organisations who want to work with or find out about the sector. All information guides have extremely accessible information, and together form a map of support and development organisations, and key agencies, in Yorkshire and the Humber. They also publish briefings, reports and various other resources.

National Survey of Third Sector Organisations

The Office of the Third Sector has published some initial results from the survey of almost 50,000 third sector organisations carried out towards the end of last year. First results show that 58% of those who had direct dealings with local government bodies said that they had a positive or very positive effect on their success. However, over half of all respondents (51%) said they felt public sector bodies had no overall influence on their success, meaning public sector bodies have more to do to improve contact and support to their local third sector.
