Celebration of Learning Awards - November 2010
HLC hosted its third Annual Learning Awards Ceremony at the Reeds Hotel, Barton on 10 November 2010.
HLC celebrated the achievements of learners from all walks of life and age groups, and providers of learning, through 12 different award categories. This has increased by 3 from previous years which reflects the need to celebrate the success of contract partners operating in different spheres.
Many learners succeed against many obstacles and this is reflected in some of the awards.
HLC delivery partners, whose staff and learners are the only organisations eligible for these awards, conduct some fantastic work resulting in many adults, some of whom would not consider learning, accessing learning. We want to celebrate, once again, this work and raise awareness of the excellent work taking place in the voluntary and community sector in the Humber.
Once again, 3 of the award categories were kindly sponsored and representatives of the sponsoring organisations presented those awards. The sponsors were:
The Young Achiever Award - Charity Bank in the North a socially responsible Bank in the North of England committed to creating social change through investment.
Learner of the Year Award - Goodwin Development Trust, a major provider of resources and learning to communities in the Hull area.
Tutor of the Year Award - University of Hull, not only our main provider of higher education but a great partner and supporter of the voluntary and community sector.
Photographs from the day can now be seen by following the links below.
This event is planned as an annual celebration and, over the coming months running up to our next event, you should be thinking about nominations for the next round. This applies equally to providers / tutors / support workers and learners, who can nominate their tutor / provider / support worker for awards.
