Celebration of Learning Awards - November 2009
HLC hosted its second Annual Learning Awards Ceremony at the KC Stadium in Hull on 12 November 2009.
HLC celebrated the achievements of learners from all walks of life and age groups, and providers of learning, through 9 different award categories. Many learners succeed against many obstacles and this is reflected in some of the awards.
HLC delivery partners, whose staff and learners are the only organisations eligible for these awards, conduct some fantastic work resulting in many adults, some of whom would not consider learning, accessing learning. We want to celebrate, once again, this work and raise awareness of the excellent work taking place in the voluntary and community sector in the Humber.
This year, for the first time 3 of the award categories were kindly sponsored and representatives of the sponsoring organisations presented thos awards. The sponsors were:
Supporting Learning Award - Steamline Media, a local website developer responsible for the development of HLC's web presence.
Tutor of the Year Award - Goodwin Development Trust, a major provider of resources to communities in the Hull area.
Provider of the Year Award - Charity Bank in the North a sociallly responsible Bank in the North of England committed to creating social change through investment.

This event is planned as an annual celebration and, over the coming months running up to our next event, you should be thinking about nominations for the next round. This applies equally to providers / tutors / support workers and learners, who can nominate their tutor / provider / support worker for awards.
