About Us

Humberside Learning Consortium was developed in response to the changes in post-16 education and training.

Engaging non-traditional learners and developing skills in the community contribute to neighbourhood renewal and the development of the social economy. If the voluntary and community sector is to be successful in its attempts to engage in this new agenda it needs to be able to operate collectively and present a unified voice.

Over 1200 individuals and organisations were contacted to obtain their views prior to the establishment of HLC. There was overwhelming agreement that a consortium, led by the major Development Agencies in the Humber Sub-Region, should:

Our achievements to date have culminated in national recognition of Humberside Learning Consortium for developing a model of good practice in enabling Learning Communities, developing a partnership with the Learning and Skills Council and delivering the GovernmentÕs Skills Strategy.

Humberside Learning Consortium covers the Humber Sub-Region and works in partnership with the local development agencies and individual organisations in each of the four local authority areas.

Humberside Learning Consortium seeks to promote learning in voluntary and community organisations in the sub-region.
